Coalition Director
Named Woman of the Year
March 20, 2009 - At a joint open house for the downtown Oakland offices of Senator Loni Hancock, Assemblymember Sandre Swanson, and Assemblymember Nancy Skinner, the state legislators announced their choices for women of the year. Loni Hancock honored Senior Services Coalition Director, Wendy Peterson.

Senator Hancock's remarks:
I would like to introduce a woman who performs the very important function of holding us together, of being the glue that helps the whole be more than just the sum of the parts. I have named as my woman of the year, Wendy Peterson, the director of the Senior Services Coalition of Alameda County.

The Coalition represents the public and nonprofit providers of a continuum of care and services for seniors in our county, so that they can speak with one voice and advocate for themselves. So that we can see where are the gaps in services so that we can do more to keep older people in their homes and living independently.

For all of these reasons, and for the exemplary, stellar work that she has done, the State Senate recognizes Wendy Peterson as the woman of the year from the 9th Senate District.

Senior Services Coalition staff and members are available for interviews and to provide background information to the media. Please contact Wendy Peterson at (510) 332-4669.
