SSCAC 2010 Policy Agenda

We are committed to establishing an easily accessible, coordinated system of social, medical and supportive care for seniors in Alameda County. Aging in place, being part of a community, feeling safe, maintaining health and mobility – these are expectations that most of us have as we age. SSCAC believes that these same expectations serve our society as we head into a future in which every fifth person you meet will be over 65.

The SSCAC’s 2011 Policy Agenda looks to that future. As much as possible, it addresses the longer-term implications of immediate policy choices that we face today. However, we must face the grave reality of the current recession and the collapse of state and local funding for health and social services. Priorities for Action cover policy areas that have been well–defined by our past work and for which current events call for immediate action. Objectives for Policy Change includes policy areas that the membership supports, but are not part of our current work plan.
